PZA Rogatec Camper Stop is located at the foot of Donačka Gora next to the Strmol Equestrian Club. A cycling route runs right past it and it is a stone’s throw from Slovenia’s largest open-air museum dedicated to architectural heritage. The camper stop is just 800 metres from the centre of Rogatec. It offers four camper/motorhome pitches equipped with electricity and water hook-up and waste water/toilet cassette disposal via the column base (no drive-over grating). Sights and activities in the immediate area
- Visit Rogatec Open-Air Museum and experience Slovenia’s biggest outdoor museum of vernacular architecture (100 m),
- Visit Strmol Manor – a castle complex first mentioned in historical sources in 1436 which today hosts permanent exhibitions, concerts and workshops and features a fully restored medieval kitchen, a baroque salon and two wedding halls (600 m),
- Be creative at one of the Saturday workshops at the museum or manor and enjoy your own experience of heritage as you discover the history of the medieval market town and its religious monuments and churches,
- Explore hiking trails and the byways of unspoilt nature (Haloze Hills Trail) and cycle along cycling routes,
- Climb to the summit of Donačka Gora (882 m), known as the “Triglav of Štajerska” and proclaimed a natural monument, passing through an old-growth beech forest that is a protected forest reserve and the only site where Juvan’s houseleek (Sempervivum wulfenii ssp. Juvanii) is known to grow. This is also the location of the first marked hiking trail in Slovenia’s mountains (5.5 km),
- Follow the path round the Žabnik fishing lake and try a spot of fishing (2 km),
- Enjoy some outdoor recreation on the Sensory Trail (Čutna pot) or Fitness Trail (Trim steza) next to the sports ground in Rogatec (200 m),
- Go horse riding at Strmol Equestrian Club (booking required) or explore the surrounding area on horseback on one of seven marked bridle paths (50 m),
- Sample genuine local food at the Open-Air Museum, on one of the area’s agritourism farms or at restaurants such as Gostišče Pod Goro or Gostišče Jutriša.
